  • Blocking 101, with Sarah Parker. Learn the basics of this most important, yet feared, step. We'll take you through the basics of our favorite blocking methods. Both steaming and wet blocking will be demonstrated along with the uses and benefits of the proper tools. Finishing for the Finicky, with Susanna Hansson

This finishing class is 6 hours with a break for lunch. Susanna will cover in detail her three golden rules of finishing. In addition, she will discuss the importance of creating large swatches; seaming; shoulder treatments; short rows, how to pick up stitches, how to handle necklines and how to manage buttonholes. These elements will be practiced on swatches. Additionally, there will be a discussion on blocking and assembly of a garment. All these elements will give you what you need to improve and finesse your finishing skills.

Tunisian Crochet, with Joanne Witzkowski

Tunisian crochet is a deceptively easy technique that is a little bit crochet, a little bit knitting and looks like weaving. The resulting fabric is quite thick and spongy making it a perfect choice for wash or dishcloths. It's also quite lovely for scarves if you use a fine yarn. This is a quick and easy project finished off with a crochet border in linen stitch and perfect for gift giving.

Thrummed Mittens, with Julie Herold

Last Fall/Winter this was our most popular class, so we decided to offer it again this year! Thrumming is a knitting technique that involves placing tufts of wool in your knit stitches to make the insides warm and squishy. This is an intermediate class, participants should be comfortable knitting on double pointed needles. The pattern we will be using can be seen here.

Toe-Up Socks, with Linda Peterson

This could be your first ever sock or just your first toe-up version. We will start with a nifty cast on and work toe increases in the first session. The second session will involve inserting an after-thought heel. Choose double point needles – or magic loop. We think you’ll love this method that allows for great yarn usage and replaceable heels and toes.
