"The Om Shawl can be worn in a myriad of ways to mirror all of the different facets of your personality, the changing seasons, and the different parts of your day! Drape it around your back and over your arms as a cozy stole, button up the top sides and pull it over your head as a poncho, button half of the side buttons and wrap it twice around your neck like a cowl letting the corners drape down like a triangle shawl. Lay it over your lap for some extra warmth on a cool morning as you sip tea. Button all of the side buttons and use it as a nursing cowl. The options are endless!"

Cast on with us Monday, September 18th at our weekly Knit Night from 6-8pm!

The Om Shawl uses knit and purl stitches to create interesting texture, along with some simple stranded color-work. It is suitable for the adventurous beginner. We will be offering free help sessions on Monday evenings from 6-8pm for the duration of the KAL.

Purchase the yarn to participate and receive 10% off! Discount does not apply to needles, buttons or the pattern. For the Om Shawl we are featuring Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok, what our shop sample is made out of. Other options include Cascade 220, Berroco Ultra Alpaca and Brooklyn Tweed Shelter.

Keep an eye on the online shop, we will be offering some of our favorite color combos as kits soon!

This year, we will be offering a prize to one lucky finisher.

To be entered to win a prize you must have a Ravelry account, and be a member of our group. To enter, post a link to your project page, or a photo of your finished object in the KAL thread. The winner will be chosen at random from those who finish. Partially completed objects will not be entered to win. By 'finished' we mean that all knitting is complete- it does not need to be blocked or have the buttons sewn on. Wear your completed shawl to our KAL wrap up on Monday, December 18 from 6-8pm and get an extra entry!
If you need help  posting a project to our group thread visit the Ravelry Wiki page for instructions on how to navigate groups and forums. You can also bring a tablet or laptop to Monday Night Knit Group and we can help you post.

KAL FAQ:
Q: KAL? What’s a KAL?
A: KAL stands for Knit-A-Long. Essentially, a KAL consists of a group of knitters knitting the same pattern at the same time. We choose patterns that we love, that we think our customers will really love too. Typically our KAL projects are at an intermediate level.

Q: I’m not a very fast knitter, do I have to keep on a schedule?
A: Nope! Every knitter has their own pace, and there is no need to knit according to a schedule. There is no need to try to be finished at a certain time.

Q: Do I have to knit at the shop?
A: While we love to have knitters in the shop, and coming to Monday night and Wednesday morning knitting groups, there is no need to come to the shop and knit. Knit at home in your pajamas, or come into the shop, whatever you want!

Q: So, why participate in a WildFibers KAL?
A: Staff at the shop have knitted the project in advance, so we are all familiar with not only the pattern, but the yarn we recommend. We can help with any issues that may arise in your knitting, we may have had the same problems and know how to fix it. KALs are a great time to try a new technique, or something you may not have chosen to knit on your own, you can be confident that the pattern we have chosen is well written and there is always support available at the shop. Participants also receive 10% off the yarn to complete the project!
