Winter 2019 Knit Along
January 1st, 2019 - March 25th, 2019
Perch was instantly on our radar when we saw the pattern preview and when Sarah finished her sample, we knew it would be our Winter knit along. Using traditional Shetland methods, Gudrun Johnston designed this half-hap using an Old Shale (feather and fan) lace motif. This intermediate shawl is suitable for advanced beginners and seasoned knitters alike!
Perch is a charted pattern and a great opportunity to learn to read lace charts. By placing stitch markers between lace motifs, it is easy to stay on track and there are plenty of plain knit rest rows so it does not require constant attention.
Start the New Year with a new project! Cast on at home on New Years Day, or come by January 7th for a free help session from 6-8 pm. We will be offering free help sessions for the duration of the KAL on Monday evenings from 6-8 and from Wednesday mornings from 10-noon.
We are using the pattern suggested Brooklyn Tweed Loft, but any fingering weight yarn will work!
The shawl takes five skeins of Loft, but you could also substitute six skeins of Peerie.
Purchase the pattern and Loft or Peerie from WildFibers to complete the KAL and receive 10% off the yarn.
